The energy body, the fluid body and states of perception

The fluid body is crucial to the development of our potential. Both our consciousness and physical wellbeing are dependent on the integrated capacity of the fluid system with the forces of the energy body, our potential.

Generally we are not very conscious of this aspect of our systems because as the mind develops we become conditioned to disassociate from sensation at a depth level, this is what happens! Our perceptual functions migrate to the periphery of our physicality and our cognitive relationship to depth feeling tone begins to atrophy.

As our perceptual apparatus becomes projected outside of the body into the relational field there is a loss of internal integrity. Our perception becomes conditioned  by our belief systems and attitudes, which are often unconscious and rudimentary. Creating energetic fulcrums of internal resistance to feeling, coupled with inadequate comprehension and understanding of our experiential reality. We see things not as they are but as we are conditioned to see them. We surrender to the social norm, often even when we know it is wrong.
Because the mind is externalised the energy separates from the fluid systems; where the mind goes the energy follows. Mental projection takes tremendous energy.

The body gradually becomes armoured toward the experience of our external reality and the draining of our Qi, the internal fluids are compromised as they are drained of energy. The fluids stagnate, flood, dry out, pool and so forth creating illness and inadequate levels of perception. The fluid tide of our energy and our chemistry is compromised as our sense of being is lost to conceptualising and resistance to feeling. Where the mind goes the energy follows, and in doing so we can and do become locked into some compromised version of our nature; conjured up by our attitude belief and conditioning.

We are at the core of our being free flowing, in communion with the planetary field; a free flowing sea of potential arising from the earth itself. Which is in turn absorbing the universal forces from the sun, on and on from the universe to the cosmos. One sea of potential; such is the vibrating vastness of our energy body integrating with the fluid functions of the flesh body.

The lower Dantian and the Longitudinal flow

In Taoist Qigong and Daoyin Meditation there are three primary centres called the three Dantian. They are situated in the gut, the chest and the head, and are often called The Three Treasures. These areas are the primary energy centres of the Body-mind, they are also the major neural colonies governing the system. The lower Dantian is thought of as the seat of our Essence, and is stored and distributed throughout the body by the Yin and Yang Qi of our Kidneys.

Essence is fluid like and is the basis of Kidney Qi. It is from our Essence that our Original Qi arises and centres between the kidneys. When Original Qi is stimulated the motive force ignites and circulates throughout the body, this is the basis of the longitudinal flow. When the Universal Essence and the Earth Essence meet in the cavity of our Original Qi at our centre of gravity the longitudinal flow ignites. This is an instinctive centre forming the integral basis of our nature and our primary energy system.

The Qi dynamics of Yin and Yang are extensive and  can be broken down into many types of energy dynamics, that are dispersed  throughout the body. These forces make up the meridian system, think of it as a flow of potential moving  much like streams and rivers, irrigating the cellular system with differing frequencies of bio-electrical and magnetic force, as they maintain our functional activity.

The lower Dantian is the primary power house of our system and orchestrates the rivers of the regular meridian system. The extraordinary  meridians are the basis of the regular meridian system. They are more ocean like than river like, and are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the regular channels. They are the foundation of our biology and our consciousness, and arise out of the creative force of our Original Qi. The extraordinary channels form the integrity of our personal biosphere. Every cell throughout the body has its own biosphere, they are a colony of cohesion expressing the blue print of the extraordinary channels.

When the energy body is low our cellular cohesion disapates and the biosphere becomes depleted. This low level of potential is the norm for most middle aged people, but it is by no means necessary. It is a spiritual affliction.

The middle Dantian Governs our Zong Qi and is rooted in our lungs. Zong means to gather.  The upper Dantian is our Shen meaning spirit and is rooted in our perceptual functions. Together they are the primal forces  of Alchemical Meditation.

Images Of Contemporary Taoist Yoga And Insight
Original Artwork & Commentary By Tez

The following images portray conceptual impressions of Gathering Essence Qigong/Daoyin Meditation in various internal and external energy flows. The stances are not necessarily important. It is how the mind and Qi/potential is integrating that has relevance. When the energy body and consciousness unite a multidimensional field of potential unfolds as the narrow focus of the thinking aspect of mind drops into the background and a contemplative consciousness becomes a presence in the living now. Pure perceptual consciousness is an energy based field focus in present time, where thinking is an energy based conceptual consciousness based on conclusions about experience in time.

Gathering Essence images  are about exploring and understanding the core reality of the life force in terms of one's own being-ness. This style of drawing and painting have led the way in developing the Gathering Essence Meditation style of the energy arts since 1970, and are deeply influenced by the I Ching, Buddhist studys and various other body-mind meditative arts. They began as intuitive art work leading into contemplation, eventually entering into profound experience and meditative insight forming the core dynamics of The Master Game classes, workshops and retreats.

This image portrays some complex ideas around the experiential feeling tone of the body's Qi forming an oval biosphere of polarised potential in a state of dynamic expansion as it integrates with the field potential beyond the physical body. The background shows the flux and flow of the universal field as the biosphere is forming.Three major centres of function are drawn in the mid line of the body. The lower triangle indicates a descending and radiating flow of potential that is rooted in the body's centre of gravity between the kidneys; centred in the planetary field of gravity. The upper triangle shows a rising and radiating flow that expands out to the planetary atmosphere and forms the body's personal field of potential. Whilst the centre shows both forces integrating in the chest, within the lung and heart complex. When balanced this is a radiating field of potential that when purified connects directly with stillness at the core of the heart centre, permeating  out to the relational field as empathy and compassion.

Deepening into the magnetised potential of the personal biosphere we resonate as conscious light.

Accessing The Power Of Ignition
And Purifying The Bodymind
Stacks Image 330
This image portrays impressions of our Qi potential within the fluid body as it enters into a state of dynamic ignition. When the core forces ignite a natural process of purification arises; the toxic and stagnant elements are driven out of the system via the fluid body through the expanding drive of the energy body. The black spots in this image portray the braking down of inertial forces that have been held within the tissues by the habits of the mind. Here they are being expelled by the intensity of the core forces. This is an alchemical dynamic, similar in a sense to smelting metal. In meditative practice this process is connected to the breath, both the breath of the lungs, the universal field and the earth as it breaths the body.

We can also see the energy forces condensing and wrapping  around the bone in a spiralling flow as they penetrate into the blood factories and unify our consciousness within and throughout the skeletal body. The lower centre below the navel shows the sexual and digestive fire, and the sign of infinity symbolises the gut connection to the universal energy field. Cutting off consciousness to our gut feeling disassociates the mind from the Essence of our being and our sexuality. The spiralling symbol shows the Essence gathering and igniting as the motive force into the hands, the mid line, the spine and central nervous system, the heart and the brain. The triangles at the heart shows the integration of the polarising tendencies of conditioning dissolving and the purified Essence expanding into the relational field. The arms and hand are out of proportion to signify the expansions of Qi spiralling along the arms into the palms and out of the body.

This is a yogic body-mind dynamic expressing the fire of consciousness integrating with the fluid systems of the body, and driving out the false assumptions of the conditioned mind. Any conditioned mind state is rooted in the bodily cells. You cannot separate an attitude from the body, they come together as one expression of intent, colouring and shaping our perception of reality, via our bodies, our energy and our chemistry. It is more truthful to say bodymind than body-mind as they are not separate functions.

In this image inertial forces both physical and mental are being expelled by the action of the mind integrating with the energy body internally acting as one unit. This meditative alchemy is being accesed prior to the life force being distributed into the attitudes and belief of the conditioned accepts of mind. A sense of embodied presence is a pre requisite for the purifying fire of consciousness to take action on the conditioned forces of mind.

Colour

The white represents the purifying energy of Essence gathering within the mid line of the body and beginning to be distributed into the fluid system as a yellow fire of personal power. The blue illustrates the energy field at the level of the meridian system expanding around the body as a force field defending the integrity of the body and distributing the systemic potential throughout. The skin breaths the external field, it both excretes and digests by means of the blue field. When this field is disrupted pathogenic forces can invade the body. Both psychological and physical viruses overwhelm the integrity of the system compromising consciousness and physical well being.

The dark lines expanding from the body symbolise the radiating energy field. It has a changing density and colour as it expands out into larger and larger fields of potential, becoming an ocean of Qi bathing the body in a unified field. Field potential is in constant flux and flow, there is no permanence in form. The dynamic flow between form and formlessness is the way of polarity, such is the flow of creation. Generally speaking field consciousness is the beginning of realisation leading to the wholeness beyond potential, the great dark velvet boundless depth of the Tao.

The Longitudinal Flow
And The Three Treasures

Stacks Image 334
This image portrays the longitudinal flow as both fluid and energy, in dynamic ignition within The Three Treasures. Its energy extends beyond the body as ones personal space and is the central core of the biosphere. Its polar dynamic maintains the ignition of the Qi field at a cellular and global level. It is a major station in the development of consciousness and the energies of being. It is activated by means of the Essence of Original Qi in the central cavity of the lower Dantian.

It is the Qi of the earth and of the atmosphere of the planet. It is grounding, aligning and igniting the primal mid line within the longitudinal core of the body. It orientates and maintains the integrity of the primal mid line through the spine, central nervous system, spinal fluids and cellular fluids.

The electrons of the longitudinal flow clear the body of static forces that disrupt the spiralling force field of the personal biosphere. Every conected healthy cell integrates with the longitudinal flow and reflects the same energetic field, igniting into an orgasmic matrix of cellular vibrancy when open and available.

The primal mid line breaths the planetary field, the planetary field breaths the universal field, the universal field breaths the galaxy, the galaxy breaths the cosmos, the cosmos is the totality of the Creative force. It is often thought of as non-polar, but the nature of the Creative force is constant change. In unified consciousness it is perceived as one dynamic flux and flow of potential, it is all one breath, a dynamic ocean of Qi. We experience it according to where we place our attention; reflecting the vibrational field within that area of perception.

The feeling tone in the longitudinal flow is ecstatic, fluid and expansive. When we resist the flow we stagnate the life force and shape our experience according to our resistance. When resistance becomes our way of being we lose contact with the free flow of the Creative force as it evolves both our universe and our being. We become less than we are, restrained by our own tendencies and perception.

A transparency of embodied being arises when the energies are allowed to flow freely. When we stop resisting our experience the tidal forces of the Creative clears the field of toxic content. We become the creative breath itself flowing throughout as our physical, energetic and mental potential. We become grounded in ignition between the universal flow, and the planetary forces of earth and atmosphere. The spirit both roots and rises, it deepens toward its source and expands into the profundity of potential that manifests the cosmic field. When we understand our heritage of potential we open to the depth and velvet darkness of its source, the Tao itself.

At the core of our cellular ignition from conception to present time the creative flow organises an energy matrix; described in Taoist literature as the extraordinary channels. In The Master Game Meditations the extraordinary channels are accessed cultivated and activated to form a biosphere of Qi potential from the core of the body out to form our personal biosphere. It is also a major station, preparing the ground for universal consciousness.

There are eight extraordinary channels, Four of which are primary. They arise from the motive force of our original Qi centred between the kidneys, they are the source of all the other channels. They are  the Chong Mai, the Du Mai, the Ren Mai and the Dai Mai. It is within the centre of gravity that the motive force arrises as a spiralling vortex. The centre of gravity is the core of ignition empowering the longitudinal and horizontal dynamics of the energy body and its bio-electromagnetic biosphere.

Ignition forms the Dai Mai, the Spiralling dynamic at the centre of Gathering Essence Meditation. If you understand Ignition as a biodynamic feeling tone you stand at the gateway to the  planetary field and the universal field . It is by means of the motive force of Original Qi that expansive states of consciousness arise, and the systemic integrity of our body-mind maintains cohesion. It is through the gravity of the earth field that the spirit is rooted and the universal potential can breath the body.

The potential seemed boundless Without end, full and whole. Vastness vibrating and flying away.

Universal Potential
And Boundless Wholeness
Stacks Image 340
This is an image of Satori based on concentration, it comes from a little drawing I did during a powerful awakening in the mid eighties. As always the image is not the reality, just an expression of the feeling tone. It felt like a sense of boundless transcendent awareness expanding way beyond the limits of the physical body and yet connected and grounded to the earth.

And yet underneath I could feel the tremendous resistance of my conditioning as a burning sense of pain and resistance pulling me back toward the numbness of the conceptual mind. When I stopped reacting to these painful sensations the transcendent would dominate my perception. Its energy field felt profoundly still and yet there was an extraordinary sense of expansion with tremendous velocity so fast that a feeling of profound buoyancy prevailed.

At the time I was in a six month retreat with around sixty people striving towards some level of awakening. When it came, it came in for quite a few, although most people did not recognise it, and seemed unable to honour it, some I suspect did in their own quite way. We carried on afterwards on our chosen paths to fulfil our potential in our own way. It was a tough experience for some people, I wish them well.

However expansion is only part of the story, depth is also required and for depth an internal clarity is needed, and for clarity to unfold the body-mind needs to become clear of attachment to inert beliefs and toxic attitudes. It is the residue of our internal shadow, our deep pain, that ungrounds us from the awakened mind. Although we can access great potential it is still partial, incomplete, unrealised at its deepest level. Awakening works its way through our perceptual stagnation, our heart stagnation and our instinctive stagnation. For some it happens all at once, but for most it is a slow unfolding.

Some words came to mind as I was drawing this image way back then. It became for a while like a mantra that would open the gates of my perception when my outside life seemed to drag me back into the oblivion of the mundane. When I focused I could still feel its residue and would think! vastness, vibrating, and flying away. It would re-ignite into expansion and greater depth for a time and then go again. Such is the way of the Creative force. It gradually clears the ground of resistance and opens the mind toward following its true nature.

Satori mean's awakening into one's true nature. For most people Satori comes and goes over time, returning at different levels of intensity as it clears the bodymind of ignorance and confusion. When its level of potential drops away we tend to return toward our regular sense of self almost as if nothing has changed. The conceptual mind dominates again, and yet somewhere in the background a quite revolution is taking place. Slowly we come to a place of understanding that both transcends the inertia of the small self and allows a flexibility of consciousness radiating beyond the conceptual mind. We see that realisation unfolds in its own time in its own way. We learn to support it and stop trying to force it, gradually we fall toward our source of being as consciousness continues to evolve. We become our version of the living truth able to live our being-ness free from the oppression of the conceptual mind and external authority. By these means we learn to cooperate with others in compassion, clarity and honesty.
